Yay, sports!

Pars and Stripes

Do you ever wake up in the morning and think “Man, I sure wish I was around to be a true patriot in the Revolutionary War.”? Me either, but some people might. For the former, the PGA has something for you this weekend to scratch that itch.

This week kicked off the biannual Ryder Cup Tournament. Every two years the 12 best golfers from the good old US of A squares off against the crème de la crème of the European circuit. This year’s tournament is held at Le Golf National just outside of Paris.

Team USA

To avoid a TLDR situation, I’m not going to chronicle each member from each team, just a few names to remember to casually drop into conversation while you’re apple picking this weekend.  All 12 from Team USA can be seen in the GQ spread promo vid here:

Jordan Spieth

#10 in the world, but #1 in our hearts.

It may have not been his best year golf wise, but lawwwdy has his hairline made a comeback since winning his green jacket in 2015! Way to go J!

Dustin Johnson

He may be the #1 golfer in the world, but just a few weeks ago it looks like his hall pass had finally expired. Hell hath no fury like an instagram model scorned.

As of this week, looks like DJ has gotten the right angles to get his lady back and the Great One back in his corner for the ProAm next year.

Patrick Reed

This years Masters Champ. Still hates his parents, still a douché. Rinse repeat and we’re moving on.

Tiger Mother Effing WOODS

Our national nightmare is over.   In case you have been living under a rock for the past 6 days Tiger Woods is BACK. Tiger won the Tour Championship this past weekend after waiting 1,876 days since his last tour win.  One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy-Six Days. This was notch 80 on TW’s belt. PGA belt that is, I’m sure the other count is MUCH higher.

JetBlue pilots, or best golfers from Europe? You be the judge.

Rory McIlroy

Pro: Great butt

Con: Still have a bad taste in my mouth about how he ended his engagement to Caroline Wozniacki via the phone not long before the scheduled wedding. People don’t forget.

Thorbjørn Olesen

I literally had no idea who this was before researching for this post. Thank god for good journalism and due diligence.

Ian Poulter

Ian Poulter is. the. WORST. He has tried not once, but MULTIPLE times to get someone fired via Twitter because he didn’t like what they had to say about him on the internet. Good thing I can’t fire myself from DWEB, or else I might be a little nervous about adding in this tidbit.

You can read more about Team Europe’s resident internet bully/troll here

Team USA is heading into Day 2 down 5-3 (Still trying to figure out the scoring. Stand-by), but best news is with the time difference most matches start around 8am EST, so feel free to drag your new beau (Yay, cuffing season!) or BF on some basic fall activity without the guilt trip their going to miss all the action.

**Editor’s note** Now seems like a good time to address something that I’ve been thinking about a lot. I’ve started to notice I write about golf more than any other sport. Even more than Baseball, which I proclaim is my favorite sport. I don’t know how this happened, seeing how I’ve worked at (shout out to all my beer cart girls out there) two golf courses and never played a full 18. So if any of my loyal 7 readers want to change that, I can rock the heck out of a visor and have quite the love of pastels.
