It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The beaches aren’t packed, kids are back in school and we have NFL Football back on our televisions. Yes, I know I’m a week late. I was busy California dreamin’ for Week 1.
**DISCLAIMER ALERT** If you’re new here I’m a spoiled Patriots fan and I am LOUD and PROUD of it. Last year was rough as – I know that because I stopped writing anything for this blog in October. After 20+ years of dominance, watching Cam Newton struggle in the air week after week started to take a toll on my health. I liked Cam, don’t get me wrong. The fits could not have been hotter, but we needed the fashion heat to match the field heat and it just wasn’t there.
Fast forward 6 months because I’m a sore loser and just don’t want to talk about last season any more (Congrats Tom, love and miss you boo) and it brings me to the excitement I have about this season. The Hoodie did the unthinkable and with the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL drafted a Quarterback from Alabama, Mac Jones. Fun Fact: Belichick and the Alabama coach Nick Saban are like Romy and Michelle level of BFF. I guarantee (am HOPING) that Nicholas wouldn’t sell his bestie on a lame duck QB.
Yes – I know the Patriots lost to the Dolphins last week but I’m still all in. Mac Daddy had some of the best stats of ANY rookie QB in a debut ever. He completed 28 out of 39 passing attempts, for 1 touchdown and zero turnovers (interceptions/fumbles).
Despite the loss I’m all in on Mac lighting up the Jets this weekend and righting the ship.
I mean look at him… If this his numbers don’t scream heir to the TB throne, this photographic evidence sure as hell does.
That’s my quarterback. It also doesn’t hurt that his nickname (not sure if it’s official but I’m rolling with it) is the same as my favorite meal when I’m a sad, disgusting, pig person. Which I can occasionally feel this way on Sundays.
The Pats take on the NY Jets on Sunday at 1:00pm on CBS
